A trip to Syracuse and back – that's what Paul Gompitz (Charly Hübner) dreams of. He wants to travel to Sicily to follow in the footsteps of the poet Johann Gottfried Seume. There is just one problem: it is 1982 and Paul lives in the GDR... He devises a daring escape plan, but he also wants to return home afterwards: to Rostock, to the Baltic Sea and his wife Anne (Lina Beckmann). A true story about longing and courage, deep love and heartfelt loyalty – and about the desire to see the world without losing one's home. Directed by Lars Jessen ("Mittagsstunde") based on motifs from the novel by Friedrich Christian Delius.
